Sexual Sins

Brothers and sisters, we are in an unprecedented time for the Church. There is a sexual epidemic on the rise. Pornography and immorality have infiltrated a way into the Bride of Christ. Many Christians are living in sexual sin, hiding their guilt and shame. Others are unaffected by their sexual sins as they have suppressed, even denied, the Truth. Nothing that we do in the flesh reaps life. Rather, to the one who sows into his flesh, he shall also reap from his flesh corruption (destruction). Galations 6:8

Christian men and women, young and old, use porn. A recent Barna poll showed that 70% of Christian men and 30% of Christian women are viewing pornography, and these numbers are increasing. Sadly, about 50% of Christians see nothing wrong with it. Let me remind you what Jesus says about this: “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:28. If you are married and viewing porn, you are committing adultery. If you are single, it is the same as fornication. These are serious sins and this is a warning from God.

Many boyfriends and girlfriends are having sex outside of marriage. This has become a common and even acceptable practice. As Christians, we must understand that we are to flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

As a result of these sexual sins, the Church is becoming more and more compromised and ineffective. How can we say the light dwells in us if we continue in darkness? Pornography is contaminating the very soul of the Body of Christ. When one member suffers in the Body, the other members suffer. 1 Corinthians 12:26 We cannot continue in our sin any longer. The Lord is shaking everything that can be shaken. Too many are dying, too many are suffering grave consequences, and too many are falling to the wayside.

If we repent and confess of our sins, the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us. 1 John 1:9 Repentance in Greek means “Metanoia: to turn from, change one’s mind.” We must not repent of our sins only to return to them. If we make a practice of our sins, we are walking a fine line in our salvation. This is dangerous, beloved. You must take the Word of the Lord with fear and reverence. He is a just God, a mighty God and will not tolerate our unrepentant sin. It is necessary for us to take every measure to resist the devil. Temptations will come, but the enemy will flee when we resist and submit in obedience to God. James 4:7

Sometimes emotional healing needs to take place, as the deep rooted lusts of the flesh may leave a Christian in need of freedom through deliverance; setting of the captives free. Do not be ashamed. The Lord will not hesitate to receive those who are of a broken spirit and contrite heart. Psalm 51:17

If you need more help, here are some ways you can take back your authority against this sexual epidemic:

1) Confess your sins to another

2) Become accountable to someone

3) Cut your internet connection

4) Get in a support group

5) Receive deliverance, if you need it
